4 Stocking Stuffer Ideas for Your Child with Braces

November 23, 2022

Stockings

The holidays have finally arrived. In addition to there being so much excitement, there is also a long list of things that need to be done. Whether you are still stringing up lights around your home, putting together your holiday playlist, or trying to decide which recipes to use during your family meals, there are plenty of reasons to be excited! However, if your child has braces, this introduces a new challenge: which stocking stuffers are appropriate? Here are some fun ideas!

New Toothbrush

Your kids’ teeth are at higher risk for developing decay during the holiday season. When they have braces, they need to be extra diligent to keep their smiles healthy. That’s why there is no better time than now to get them some new toothbrushes to scrub away all of that food debris, plaque, and bacteria that litter their mouths. You can find a wide array of children’s toothbrushes out there that can help to motivate them to maintain excellent dental hygiene. Choose their favorite color, comic book character, or even ones that play songs for the duration of their brushing.

Yummy Dental Products

Strong, minty dental products may be refreshing for you, but they are usually too intense tasting for younger kids. That’s why there are so many flavor options in the dental aisle at your local grocery store. Try looking for strawberry, bubblegum, or orange! The most important thing is that they contain the mineral “fluoride.” This ingredient is what helps to prevent tooth decay and strengthen the enamel of the teeth.

Sugarless Sweets

No child wants to go through the holiday season without any sweets. The good news is that sugar-free treats are available, and they’re better for your kids’ teeth. Pick them out a pack of sugarless gum or lollipops so they can enjoy a sweet treat without having to increase their risk of tooth decay. Just remember to avoid anything too gummy, as these treats can get stuck in their braces.

Healthy Snacks

A bag of chips, crackers, or pretzels may seem like the easiest thing to grab, but they aren’t great for your child’s smile. They can be just as harmful as sugary candy. Instead, pick out things like applesauce or string cheese on Christmas morning. They are delicious and can benefit their smile.

This holiday season, don’t let your child’s oral health be left behind. By using some of the stocking stuffer ideas listed above, they can keep their smile healthy while working toward perfect alignment!
